Q1: What is Bakhoor?

Bakhoor is a form of incense (powder, wood chips, and solid wood) that has been soaked in perfume oil and mixed with other natural ingredients such as natural resin and essential oils to release fragrant smoke in the surroundings. It is very popular in the Middle East. 

Q2: What is the difference between Attar and Perfume?

Attars are fragrances in 'oil' form while perfumes are 'spray' form. Attar perfumes are concentrated natural fragrances derived from botanical sources in form of base oil. While perfumes typically come in spray form as they contain alcohol.

Q3: What is Attar made out of?

Attar is a natural perfume oil derived from botanical sources, such as flowers (jasmine, rose, sandalwood and more), herbs, spices, or barks. Oils can also be expressed by chemical means but generally natural perfumes which qualify as Attars are distilled naturally.

Q4: How do you store Attar?

We recommend that you store fragrance oils in a cool dark place away from light and heat.

Q5: What is the shelf life of Attar?

Approximately 2 years. When stored properly, fragrance and flavor oils have a stable shelf life of 2 years. Fragrance and flavor oils do not need to be refrigerated.

Q6: How can I make my Attar long lasting?

To make it last for the whole day, apply a small drop on the wrists, back of your ears, neck and other pulse points. The fragrance intensifies with the heat of your body causing it to last the whole day.

Q7: What is the difference between Perfume and Eau de Parfum?

Eau De Parfum is historically genderless, used to describe both men’s and women’s fragrances. It contains 15 – 20 percent pure perfume essence and lasts for about five to eight hours.

Perfume is the most concentrated and expensive of all fragrance options. Slightly oilier, perfume, or parfum, is composed of 20 to 30 percent pure perfume essence. A single application of perfume can last up to 24 hours.

Incense is a smoke-emitting substance. It’s made of natural materials that can be burned to create a fragrant, aromatic smoke. Different kinds of incense have different scents and materials. Some examples are cedar or rose. Some are made with resins, while others are made with powders. Incense is used to freshen up the scent of indoor areas, for spiritual purposes, for health, and more.

Q9: What is the difference between an Electric and Charcoal burner?

An electric burner is an easy and convenient way to burn incense. It simply needs a power source and incense and you are good to go. However, the charcoal burner is the traditional way of burning incense. Although, it requires a few more steps than the electric burner, it is still the more efficient one. You need to light the charcoal first and wait for it to get hot. Then you add the incense and enjoy the fragrance.
